The Girl Power Project

The struggle for gender equality in the developing world is the overriding moral challenge of this century.

The Girl Power Project - Just Like My Child Foundation

Did you know?

  • - In rural Uganda, where Just Like My Child Foundation is working, rape is the leading reported form of abuse against girls.

  • - 86.9% of rape victims in Uganda are between the ages of 9 and 17.

  • - Each year, millions of girls become mothers before age 18.

  • - 75% of 15 to 24-year-olds living with HIV in Africa are female.

The statistics are devastating, yet we are learning that investing in a girl can reap the most staggering rewards – rewards that have the power to change the world. Women’s and girls' empowerment has been proven to raise economic productivity and reduce infant mortality. It contributes to improved health and nutrition, and increases the chances of education for the next generation.

We passionately believe in protecting the rights of children. That’s why Just Like My Child Foundation is investing in one of the most effective ways to create a shift at the grassroots level – life skills and mentoring training for thousands of girls who are now bold enough to look you in the eye, strong enough to state their rights and free enough to rise to their full potential as they lead their country forward.
