What could be better than raising money for families in rural Uganda? How about mothers and children in San Diego raising money for other mothers and children in rural Uganda? This is exactly what a group of San Diego families did on Saturday, April 26th, 2008.

After hearing Just Like My Child Founder, Vivian Glyck, speak at their parenting class in March, the mothers were so inspired that they decided to hold a rummage sale which would incorporate important lessons for their children about helping others, share information about the plight of many African families and raise money to help Just Like My Child accomplish its mission!

Each mother and child went through items at their homes that were no longer needed and had their children pick out items that they were ready to give away. In this way, the children learned the importance of helping others and learned to appreciate more deeply the toys and clothing they do have.

The families spent a busy morning setting up, selling coffee, donuts, lemonade and all the items to be sold. At the end of the day, after all the sales, the final total was $1,151.79 to be donated to Just Like My Child! Wow! All of us at Just Like My Child are feeling very inspired by this beautiful event!
